New Kids {Pajamas} On The Block: Westyn Baby

In Lifestyle + Wellness by Tori DalyLeave a Comment

Sometimes I think my kids have more sets of pajamas than they do regular clothing. We have sets from both big name retailers + small clothing boutiques. Naturally I have found the quality of the PJs sold in boutiques to be superior to those in most chain stores. So when I heard about a new line of PJs for kids was developed + being sold by a wonderful woman I had the pleasure of knowing + working with for several years, I jumped at an opportunity to try them out on my youngest. As a disclaimer, I did receive a pair of these pajamas for free but all opinions are my own.

QUALITY + SAFETY:

Like all good companies + products, Tara Saltzburg created Westyn Baby out of a need; a need for pajamas that adhered to high safety standards + were also non-irritating for her son’s sensitive skin. Ones that could handle all the messy parts of childhood like meal time + diaper blowouts. Hey, this is real life we’re talking about + real life with kids is MESS-Y! But we shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality, comfort + safety just for the sake of potential inevitable dirt. Aside from the beautiful, serene pictures on the Westyn Baby website, you will also notice how just how strong the dedication to safety standards of pajamas this company is + why they design theirs to be tight fitting {hint: it has to do with using less chemicals}.

Here is a little information from their website about the Modal fabric used for their pajamas: “Our products are comprised of 95% Modal and 5% Lycra which provides superior softness and a smooth, lustrous finish. Modal is absorbent, air permeable, and breathable, making each of our pieces lightweight and silky-smooth.”

“Modal is a type of Rayon derived from the Beech tree. Although Rayon is not considered to be a totally natural fiber because it’s typically processed heavily with chemicals, Modal is an exception. Modal is a registered trademark of Lenzing, which advertises its environmentally-friendly processes based on closed loop systems. In fact, 95% of the production materials used to make modal are reclaimed, reducing emissions and conserving resources.”

MORE REASONS TO LOVE THEM:

When I received our package of PJs, I was immediately impressed with the attention to detail of the packaging + presentation. Delicately wrapped up in tissue paper with the Westyn Baby logo sticker + a handwritten note of gratitude. Perfection! But I am the one that is grateful! Once I noticed the level of superior construction, the buttery softness of the fabric + how easy they are to get on my very squirmy child, I was hooked!

The last part may not seem like a big deal but trying to get a kid who HATES getting dressed to squeeze into tight fitting PJs that have no give or movement is nightmare. That was not the case with these delightfully soft + stretchy pajamas! When I put our little guy down to play before bedtime I could see just how comfortable he was in his new threads. No sagging at the waistline or constantly having to pull them up. No rolling up of the pant legs so he didn’t trip + fall. He was free to run + play with his brother in comfort + uninhibited movement.

My concern with the PJs seeming so lightweight was that my baby boy would get chilly throughout the evening. What I realized is these pajamas are almost like Under Armour. I checked on my baby several times throughout the night to see if he was warm enough + comfortable and guess what…he was! They kept him warm but also let his skin breathe so he didn’t overheat. This allowed him to be comfortable all night long, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.

In the morning I promptly changed him out of his PJs because I was nervous to feed him in them. But since that first night he has had several breakfasts {and maybe a lunch or two} in them + they have held up quite well. Still, because these pajamas are a bit of an investment I would suggest refraining from wearing them during mealtimes. At least during the first few wears…after that, it’s fair game 🙂

WHERE TO BUY:

When ordering your pair, go up a size as they tend to run slightly small, especially since they are tight fitting. When washing them use a garment bag if possible for a more gentle wash. All the proper care instructions can be found on the Westyn Baby website + if you ever have a question, drop them a line! They are 100% dedicated to customer satisfaction! And as PSA, these pajamas aren’t just for babies…they have toddler sizes, too. And the icing on the cake? They offer free shipping within the contiguous United States!

Lucky for me, there are a few babies coming into our family this year + I can’t wait to get them a pair of these super special pajamas! Find Westyn Baby’s beautiful pajamas HERE + follow along with them on Instagram, Facebook + Pinterest!
