Over the past few years there seems to have been a decline in candy being given in kids’ Easter baskets + I am perfectly OK with that. With two little boys who are already energetic we have already made it a point not to put much candy in their baskets. In fact, it usually is only a couple packs of fruit snacks + two lollipops for our {soon-to-be} 4 year old. For the baby, he will get snack cookies + Pirates Booty + maybe some applesauce.
So what do we put in the Easter basket instead of candy? What we usually include are items that can be used outside in the coming warmer weather + some indoor activities for rainy days. If you’re stuck on what to put in your kid’s Easter basket here are a few ideas I have rounded up for babies + toddlers:

Easter Basket Gift Guide
These “If I Were A…” board + sensory books are so great! We received the “If I Were A Monkey…” one for our baby as a gift + he can’t get enough of it!
Two other great products are the Eco-Eggs + the Yoobi egg shaped sidewalk chalk. The Eco-Eggs kit is an egg dying kit that contains 3 natural dyes derived from natural + organic fruits, plants + vegetables. It also contains a grass growing kit which your kids can grow then display the eggs on. So cute!! And as for the Yoobi sidewalk chalk, all Yoobi products donate an item to a U.S. classroom in need. Products with a purpose are the way to go!
Gardening tools + bubbles are great way to keep your kids active outdoors. What kid hasn’t enjoyed digging in the dirt or chasing bubbles for hours minutes?
If your kids are anything like mine, no weather will stop them from being outside. I am learning to follow the saying that there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear. This means we go through at least one pair of rain boots a season. If you don’t have yours yet, get them because they go FAST. For the sunnier days, throw in a cool pair of shades like these aviator sunglasses to protect their little peepers!
On the days the kids do want to be indoors, Play-Doh + Silly Putty are great for keeping them busy but this little baking set from Melissa + Doug is also great. My mother-in-law bought it for our oldest + he loves pretending to cook + bake with it.
Sippy cups seem to always be needed around this house so I always use the Easter basket {or Christmas stocking} to add a new one + get rid of any that have been overused. This stainless steel one from Skip Hop + glass one from Green Sprouts are great alternatives to plastic ones you may be looking to get rid of.
For babies, teething bibs + binkies {we love Wubbanubs} are definitely appropriate. And if your little one doesn’t have a stuffed animal check out these Jelly Cat bunnies. We LOVE our Jelly Cat stuffed animals + our youngest is super attached to his little gray bunny!
Easter Baskets We Love
If you are in the market for an Easter basket I highly recommend these baskets from Pottery Barn Kids. We have purchased the wicker ones in neutral for each of my boys + they are so sturdy + well made. These can grow with your kids meaning you won’t need to buy multiple baskets as they get older + they are definitely high-quality enough that they can be passed down for a few generations. PB Kids has a variety of liners for these baskets to choose from as well. And don’t you think these little seersucker baskets are adorable + classic, especially for going to Easter egg hunts?
