Guest Bedroom Makeover: Coastal Retreat

In Decor + Design, Interiors, Lifestyle + Wellness by Tori DalyLeave a Comment

Guest bedrooms at my parents’ house are always in demand
during the summer months. With their house being only two minutes from the
beach and a relatively large extended family, my parents always welcome the opportunity
to have house guests stay the night…or weekend. However, some of the rooms
could use some TLC in terms of decluttering and updating features to make the
room more inviting for a mini weekend getaway. Now is the perfect time to take
on this project as warm weather and visitors become more infrequent (although
fall is my favorite time to walk along or fish the uncrowded beaches).

Below is a picture to give you a little taste of my vision
for this particular guest bedroom. The goal is to make it an airy but cozy,
year-round coastal retreat featuring soft neutrals with shades of tranquil
blues and greens, and possibly some pops of bright colors…maybe. Textures and
colors will be inspired by the beach itself: soft beige sand, wispy dune grass,
smooth shells and driftwood.

Color Palette Inspiration:

These are photos of how the room currently is. Aside from an
updated wall color, we will also be sanding and staining the oak floors and I
will be refreshing the dresser with some chalk paint (the miracle paint!) and
new hardware. Other new items on the list: light fixture on the ceiling, area
rug, decorative wall accents, and comfy bedding.

Weekly progress will be posted along with a discussion of each
project as it is completed. Thank you for following along with this makeover-
enjoy!
