What to Wear: Spring + Summer Weddings, Part 3

Hi! Here is the third-and maybe final-installment of what to wear to Spring + Summer weddings, Black Tie Affair edition.

Most of my years working in the event industry have been spent on black tie or black tie optional weddings and for some reason I feel like these are the easiest to dress for. There’s practically no worry of being overdressed and they are almost always inside so the most you have to worry about weather-wise is being under an AC vent. So without further adieu, here is some inspiration for your swankier nuptials:

SHORT + SWEET: Short dresses are sometime difficult to pull off for more formal affairs, however, the more it can cover, the better. Try to avoid too much skin showing. I’m also a big fan of long sleeves on short dresses but for this time of a year I give a pass for short sleeves and short hems (these cap sleeves give enough coverage without stifling you in the middle of summer). And of course, any bit of glimmer takes the level up a notch.

MIDI MAGIC: There are about a million dresses from Dress the Population that I want this season but this one stuck out and reminded me of Jessica Biel’s Oscar dress (LOVED!). It’s absolutely amazing with the texture and pattern in tone-on-tone gold. I’m in Heaven! Pair it with a simple but dramatic earring + bag, then either add to the drama with the shoes or keep everything simple and monochromatic and let the dress do the talking. This also comes in a short sleeved style for those really warm days/evenings.

LONG + LOVELY: Who wouldn’t want this breezy, beautiful pink gown?? Black tie doesn’t always have to mean rigid and dark. Light pink + gold color schemes aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, so why not embrace it for earlier spring and summer weddings + be a breath of fresh air?

Hope you enjoyed this little series + you borrow some ideas from these inspirations for weddings you have coming up this year!
